The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering?s Center for Integrated Transportation Systems Management (CITSM) was recently granted $926,700 by the US Department of Transportation (USDOT). The University of Maryland is part of eight higher education centers to receive $13.8 million from USDOT?s Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA) for research and education.

The Center for Integrated Transportation Systems Management (CITSM) at the University of Maryland College Park was established as a tier I university transportation center in 2008. The goal of the center is the Development of Advanced Technology, Improved Processes, and Enhanced Organizational Structures for the Integrated Management and Operation of Transportation Facilities and Corridors.

Some of the other universities that will receive parts of this RITA grant are University of Vermont, University of California, Purdue University, University of Alabama at Birmingham, University of Tennessee and University of Michigan.
