Dr. Gregory Baecher

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering's Dr. Gregory Baecher recently spoke at a symposium on Midwest floods at the University of Iowa. Originally, Dr. Gerry Galloway was to lecture at the event, but was unable to do so due to extenuating circumstances.

The symposium entitled "Living With Floods: From Science to Policy," focused on the Midwest 2008 floods that devastated Iowa City, where the University of Iowa is located. The event lasted from March 10-12, 2009 with Dr. Baecher presenting the keynote on the history of American flood policy on Tuesday, March 10, 2009.

The event and the salient features of the lecture are covered in a blog by reporter Adam Belz (adam.belz@gazcomm.com).
