On Sept. 9, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) Research Professor and Glenn L. Martin Institute Professor of Engineering Gerry Galloway received the Renewable Natural Resources Foundation’s 2015 Sustained Achievement award.
Established in 1992, the Sustained Achievement Award recognizes those individuals who have demonstrated a long-term commitment to the protection and conservation of natural resources.
An associate of CEE’s Center for Disaster Resilience, Galloway continues to build on more than 60 years of experience working in a wide range of water management, advisory and research roles. Galloway’s expertise spans disaster resilience and mitigation, water resources policy and management, and sustainable infrastructure development. He serves as a consultant to federal, state, and nongovernmental agencies on flood risk management and community resilience.
A retired brigadier general, Galloway graduated from the U.S. Military Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He served in various command and staff assignments in Germany, Southeast Asia and the U.S. during his 38-year military career. He was promoted to brigadier general in 1990 before retiring from active duty in 1995.
The Renewable Natural Resources Foundation (RNRF) is a consortium of scientific, professional, educational, design and engineering organizations whose primary purpose is to advance science, the application of science, and public education in managing and conserving renewable resources.
