2 December 2012 – Dallas, London, Sydney – PM World has announced that Professor John Cable, Director of the Project Management Center for Excellence in the A.J. Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland, will join the Editorial Advisory Board for the global PM World Journal (PMWJ).  The PMWJ is a monthly eJournal devoted to the creation of new knowledge and continuous learning related to professional program and project management (P/PM).

Before taking on his current role as the Director of the Project Management Center for Excellence, John Cable served in the newly formed U.S. Department of Energy in 1980, where he was involved with developing energy standards for buildings, methods for measuring energy consumption, and managing primary research in energy conservation. As an architect and builder, Mr. Cable founded and led John Cable Associates in 1984, a design build firm.

In 2002, Mr. Cable was appointed to the inaugural board for the newly formed Global Accreditation Center for Project Management Educational Programs (GAC) by the Project Management Institute (PMI®).  He served as chair of the PMI GAC from 2006 through 2012, during which the accreditation of project management educational programs increased to 86 programs at 40 institutions in 15 countries around the world. He has recently been working to expand project management education, accreditation and representation in China, India and Brazil.  John was awarded PMI’s 2012 Distinguished Contribution Award for his leadership at the GAC.

According to David Pells, PMWJ Managing Editor, “As chair of PMI’s Global Accreditation Center, John Cable has been one of the most active and visible leaders in the global project management academic community over the last ten years.  His recent contributions have had a broad impact on the field of project management.  We are honored to have him join our advisory team.”

“I have known David Pells for several years now and respect the global value he is creating with the PM World Journal,” Prof Cable said.  “I am honored to join the other academic leaders who have already joined their team, which includes some of the most respected names in the project management field.  It should be rather stimulating to participate.”

The PM World Journal (PMWJ) is a global online publication produced by PM World in the United States, but created by a virtual team of contributors and editors around the world.  Each month, the PMWJ features dozens of articles, papers and stories about projects and project management in different countries and industries.  PM World is a virtual organization reflecting the 21st century reality of a connected world where individuals and organizations worldwide can collaborate for the creation, sharing and application of new knowledge.  Visit
