Bilal Ayyub, a professor of civil and environmental engineering and director of the Center for Technology and Systems Management at the University of Maryland, has been elected treasurer of the Society for Risk Analysis (SRA). Ayyub is one of three new council members announced earlier this month.

“Our new council members and officers reflect our diverse and broad-reaching international organization. Each of our council members embodies the spirit of community and brings talent, expertise, and energy to the table. We are very fortunate to have such rich leadership as we continue to strengthen the global risk community,” said SRA President Margaret MacDonell in a press statement announcing the new members.

Established in 1980, SRA is a multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, scholarly, international society that provides an open forum for those interested in risk analysis. The society also publishes Risk Analysis: An International Journal, the leading scholarly journal in the field.

Ayyub will serve as the treasurer through 2019.

“The short-term and long-term sustainment of the already strong finances of the society is of a strategic nature,” said Ayyub, who joined SRA in 2002 and later became a fellow in 2013. “I am proud to continue my service to SRA as the treasurer.”
